Lea Michele is happy with the way she is!
So it’s pretty clear to the Glee alum when magazines retouch her nose. Uh oh!
Recently, Miz Michele partnered with Aerie to be part of the brand’s campaign against photo shopping and retouching. AH-Mazing!
While at Aerie’s pop up shop in NYC, the brunette stunner opened up about why she joined in on the #aerieREAL movement. She explained to People:
"It’s refreshing. I think it’s really great. I’ve always had a platform coming off of being on Glee, of just really being proud of who I am and what I look like and my uniqueness and embracing that and I’ve talked often about how I feel that that’s really what’s helped me to get to where I am today. I think that Aerie is such an amazing brand for young girls to see campaigns where they see girls for what they really look like. It’s empowering and its really good for this generation."
In fact, Lea’s had a long history of dealing with body shamers — especially when it comes to her nose. Thankfully, not too many publications have tried to alter her appearance as she continued:
"When people change my nose its very clear to me. I’m like ‘That’s not my nose!’ But they don’t do it that often with me — I mean, I’ve seen situations with other celebrities where it’s aggressive how much things get retouched or photoshopped. What I think fans love to see about me is what I really look like and so magazines sometimes give people what they want with me. They’re like, ‘Ehh we’ll just leave her as she is.’"
Thank goodness for that!
It probably helps the New Year’s Eve actress has been an advocate for self love for awhile now. Back in 2010, the 30-year-old told GQ her mother never let her get a nose job in high school since "Barbra Streisand didn’t get a nose job". And look at her today!
Way to slay.
